Grivita '33, film, 32'18", 2018
Istoria se schimba in functie de povestitor /History is changing according to the storyteller.
The film begins with the story of rudists — bivalve mollusks — and their extinction as a group at the end of the Late Cretaceous. The image of their death reappears over time in the Politehnica underground station in Bucharest, revealed through the apparatus of Socialist modernization. A painting by Gavril Miklosy, Grivita ’33, belonging to the Socialist Realist tradition, serves as the backdrop for sociologist Florin Poenaru’s discussion of the disappearance of working-class consciousness over the past decades.
